Following on the first Artists’ Grief Deck, this is an art based toolkit for processing loss. 60 cards include 58 original artworks made by artists between the ages of 6 and 26, paired with ‘grief prompts’ written by youth or bereavement experts from our organizational partners. Together, this makes an open-ended tool to support grieving for youth of all ages, offering activities, ideas, and methods for understanding loss and moving through it. In the long, lingering sustain of the pandemic, so much has been lost - including loved ones and members of our communities, but also a ‘presumptive normal,’ special events, birthday parties and graduations. This mounting toll of loss can often be invisible, but it is universally shared. And more and more, it is landing on the shoulders of young people who may not have a vocabulary or awareness of grief and its impacts.
